The work of Milena Dopitova is distinguished by her ability to find succinct metaphors in relation to her theme, and by the striking matter-of-factness of her artistic idiom.
It is precisely at the heart of this silencing of women and denial of their share in the natural and social order, thereby turning her into an exchange value, that Milena Dopitova articulates her doubts about the viability of such a condition. Through her work, Milena Dopitová helps us understand and challenge our relationship to ourselves in the context of the social and cultural spaces we inhabit. She achieves this without humiliating men, and without exposing women to the kind of traumatic shock that so often destroys the only, albeit most likely specious, certainties without offering a solution.
