Vincenc Kramar
VINCENC KRAMAR COLLECTION
Vincenc Kramar (1877–1960) was one of the first collectors worldwide to recognise the importance of Picasso and Braque's Cubism. Without a doubt, his collection, a substantial portion of which is now held in the National Gallery of Prague, had a profound influence on the development of several decades of Czech Modern art.
Jiri Svestka Gallery embarked upon a long-term programme designed to present rarely displayed works from that portion of the famous Vincenc Kramar Collection inherited by the collector's daughter Ruzena Brunclikova.
The first exhibition covered six Cubist paintings by Emil Filla, and was followed by the exhibition "Cezanne, Derain, Friesz, Gauguin, Matisse, Renoir, Signac – Prints of French Impressionism and Fauvism. Currently on display is a permanent exhibition of representative works from the collection.
